Self Help Guide for Tinnitus Relief Now Available Around the World

21 October 2024

Lloyd Mander, a director at Bellbird Hearing, previously practiced as an audiologist with a special interest in tinnitus. Lloyd had experienced tinnitus since childhood, so was always curious about it and as a clinician he provided successfully treated many patients with problematic tinnitus.

Tinnitus tends to be initiated by a change in a part of the hearing system. The change could involve a hearing loss or a normal change in a healthy hearing system. Tinnitus becomes bothersome when it is evaluated negatively, and more attention is directed toward it. Therefore, treatment for tinnitus usually involves a combination of improving the audibility of external sounds (often with hearing aids) and understanding how to break-out from a cycle of negative feelings forming around tinnitus.

In 2003, Lloyd produced KnowTinnitusTM – A Self Help Guide for Tinnitus Relief. The was first released as an audio compact disc. A thousand copies were distributed by audiologists, GPs, and ENT specialists.

The KnowTinnitusTM content was recently released as a podcast to celebrate 21 years of sharing foundational scientific research and the clinical experiences of Lloyd and his colleagues. If you are a podcast user, you can listen without ads via the links below.
