for hearing aids
Hearing aids are usually covered under most home contents insurance policies, but you may need to tell your insurer that you have purchased them and update your policy.
We recommend getting in touch with your insurance company to make sure your hearing aids are covered, as you may need to have them listed separately under your policy.
If you lose or significantly damage your hearing aids;
1. Contact Bellbird Hearing
Let us know what has happened to your hearing aids. We work with insurance companies regularly so we can help guide you through the process.
2. Contact your contents insurance provider to start the claim process
When you do this, let your insurance company know that you would like Bellbird Hearing to replace your hearing aids. You may still be contacted by another audiology provider about your claim (many insurance companies now have preferred supplier). This is the insurance companies' way of ‘shopping around’ for a different provider.
Some clients have felt pressured to get their replacement aids with the insurers preferred suppliers instead of their usual audiologist or clinic. Under the Code of Health and Disability Rights, you have the right to choose your audiology provider, and do not have to change to the insurers preferred supplier. You also have the right to be free from harassment under this same Code. You may need to be assertive to ensure you can continue to receive your hearing aids from Bellbird Hearing. You always have a choice when it comes to your health, and this includes the replacement of your hearing aids. You may need to ask your insurance company for a cash payout.
3. We will work with your insurance provider to process your claim, then order your replacement hearing aids.
We may be able to fit you with loan aids while we are waiting on approval from your insurance company. We want you to get back to hearing well again as quickly as possible
We are here to help, do not hesitate to get in touch so we can help work through the process with you.
